Poem: Praise God

Praise God When the lights are out and I am all alone I will still praise your name When the sun rises and the sun sets I will praise your name all day long. I believe in you and I will always praise you to the end.

Tag Your It!

The day was a bright sunny day in Galveston, Texas. Kayla had just turned 13 and was enjoying the Spring like weather. She enjoyed going to the park that was down the street. She would go there every day just so she could see her friends. They would play tennis, swim in the Olympic size pool or just hang out and play cards on the picnic table. It was early June and the heat hadn’t hit that part of the country yet. Kayla was going to enjoy the pool and work on her tan. She saw Kevin in the park too and was hoping he would talk to her. Kayla had him in her History class the year before. He sat behind her and liked pull on her pigtails. Kayla really liked Kevin but she didn’t think that he knew she existed much of the time, since he ignored her when her other friends were around.     When Kayla entered the pool at the shallow end she saw several of her friends hanging out in the middle of the pool. Sara yelled to Kayla, “Come on in Kayla and play Tag with us.”  ...

Birthday Musings: My life is more than half over!

I was born on May 21st, 1959. I always remember the story of my birth, because my Mom would always tell me every year. According to her, I interrupted her watching the show called: "Maverick." She never got to see that episode because back then they didn't have reruns. I was born in the early hours of the 21st. My Dad was gone when I was born. He was on an oil rig working.  We always told him he was busy earning the money for having me. I was the last one and the most expensive. I will be 60 tomorrow. That just blows my mind. I am the youngest of four kids. I know several people that share my birthday. One actually will be turning 60 tomorrow as well. My husband is constantly reminding me that I am old. Well, yeah I am older than him by 2 1/2 years and he doesn't let me forget it. Three years ago, I went through five surgeries in 6 months with 2 rehab stays. That year, I was in the hospital on my birthday after having brain surgery twice with in two months of ea...

I will be thinking of you

I am not one for writing poetry however, every once in a while I manage to come up with a poem. This is what I wrote this morning. I was thinking of our daughter, Jessica. She has been gone for about 18 years now. Hard to believe it's been that long already. Here is the poem: When the sun rises and the sun sets, I will be thinking of you When the birds sing, and the butterflies fly by I will be thinking of you When I see a penny on the ground I will smile and look around I will be thinking of you. You have been gone for so long I can't wait until I can see you again, In the meantime, I will be thinking of you

Runaway by Chris Campbell, guest post

"RUNAWAY" The heavy twelve coach train, packed with families and tourists heading west for the Christmas break toiled up the gradient through the cutting towards the summit tunnel. The weather was remarkably good for late December with the sun shining brightly in a cloudless sky. The train normally had only one baggage coach, but this had been supplemented with a further baggage coach to handle the vast amounts of luggage and presents that all the passengers seemed to be taking with them. As the train approached the tunnel entrance the driver gave a long blast on the whistle, then the train plunged into the darkness, Smoke from the stack blew back over the cab of the locomotive and the driver and fireman were glad that this engine had an enclosed cab which stopped most of the smoke, unlike some of the older engines on the line that was open to the elements. It was a long tunnel, nearly three miles in length, which would have been a nightmare with an open cab....
