Birthday Musings: My life is more than half over!

I was born on May 21st, 1959. I always remember the story of my birth, because my Mom would always tell me every year. According to her, I interrupted her watching the show called: "Maverick." She never got to see that episode because back then they didn't have reruns. I was born in the early hours of the 21st. My Dad was gone when I was born. He was on an oil rig working.  We always told him he was busy earning the money for having me. I was the last one and the most expensive.

I will be 60 tomorrow. That just blows my mind. I am the youngest of four kids. I know several people that share my birthday. One actually will be turning 60 tomorrow as well. My husband is constantly reminding me that I am old. Well, yeah I am older than him by 2 1/2 years and he doesn't let me forget it.

Three years ago, I went through five surgeries in 6 months with 2 rehab stays. That year, I was in the hospital on my birthday after having brain surgery twice with in two months of each other. Since that birthday, I have learned to enjoy everyday and to enjoy my birthday. You don't know when you might not have another birthday!

I think you are as old as you feel. There are days when I still feel like I am 16, and then there are days when I feel a lot older. There is a saying, "You are only as young as you feel."

I plan to enjoy my birthday and do what I want to do. I have earned it! I am going to Denny's and get my free breakfast they give me for my birthday. Then we will do some errands. James will go to work around 3. He works 3 to 11:30 tomorrow. So I will take that time to work on my little backyard. I bought stuff to make it pretty. I plan to put some music on and just go for it! I will try to take pictures for the before and after.

Well i finally figured out how to get back to the part where you can write in the blog. I sometimes forget about bloggin as you can tell since i have not blogged "in a coons age". I finished my long term substitute assignment on January 24th and have just been substituting anywhere they needed me since that time. I even subbed last week for the middle school where I was a long term sub for the first four weeks. The class has grown since i left and she has a steady 14 kids in each class. She mainly teaches Science to 6th and 8th graders and then also teaches Language Arts and Math to her kids that are considered self contained. I taught one day last week in a Math class from He**. It was horrible! I told James that it was probably my 2nd worst day of subbing i have ever had in my 2 yrs of subbing. Are you wondering what my worst day was? What to do at 3 in the morning?

Well here I sit at the computer and its nearly 3:30 in the morning now. I started getting sick yesterday at school. I was sneezing like crazy most of the day. When I got home I started taking meds. I took everything from Claritin (thinking it might be my allergies) to Theraflu and so far no real relief. Then about 11:45pm I took something that had an antihestomine (not sure what it was since it was out of the box) I figure good something that would dry me up. Well it actually did dry me up however I have been a wake most of the night. UGHHH!! I was suppose to work today but when i woke up at 11:45 pm and good not hardly talk or do much else i called in to the lady that assigns the subs and told her i could not work. Yesterday, Justin was sick with a low fever and coughing. I am hoping to be able to send him to school today. He has missed 8 days of school so far this year and can not miss anymore than 10 before they decide to retain him. I would rather he not have to stay in 3rd grade a...

Day 23: Dream Job

     I truly believe that my "Dream Job" would be to be an Author! I have always loved writing. When I was in high school and was in English class my teacher at the time told me to keep writing. She saw a potential there in my writing. I haven't kept up with writing stories or poems like I used to do. However, since i am home now on disability, this is a good time to start writing. I started back on January 1st, writing for the Blog Challenge. I also write in my journal on " 750words " a day.    Sometimes it is hard to come up with 750 words because I lead a rather boring life. I am hoping that eventually I will get better at writing and write something worth reading.
