"This is My Brave"

Jennifer Marshal is one of the creators of "This is my Brave". It is now a nonprofit. You can read about Jennifer and her story at: Mental Wellness I found this website called "This is My Brave". It deals with mental illness. In our society there is still such a stigma about having a mental illness. It shouldn't be this way. There are more people that have mental illness around you than you realize. Some may not be even diagnosed. Here is a youtube video about "This is My Brave"

Repeating of the Past

Immigrants have been coming into our country for centuries. I found an article today about immigrants. Why They Came There is a saying that comes to mind: "History Repeats its self" Back 1865 when the immigrants were coming from all over there was no Welfare or anything to help people step up. It hadn't been created yet. People cane to the U.S. because they were being persecuted and thought America was the land of opportunity.  Leaders need to look at what has happened in the past so we don't repeat our mistakes. I don't have any solutions to the immigration problem that is happening right now. I do find it interesting that Mr. Obama made this statement back in 2005. He wasn't able  to correct this then and President Trump is focusing on immigration. He thinks that the Wall between the US and Mexico is going to solve the problem. This is only one possible solution. In this article it says how people would go through Ellis Island on the

Andra Watkins  is a  New York Times best selling author, who lives in Charleston, South Carolina with her husband, Michael T Maher. A non-practicing CPA, she has a degree in accounting from Francis Marion University. She’s still mad at her mother for refusing to let her major in musical theater, because her mom was convinced she’d end up starring in porn films. She’s the author of three books and counting. Her acclaimed first novel  To Live Forever: An Afterlife Journey of Meriwether Lewis  was published by Word Hermit Press on March 1, 2014.  Not Without My Father: One Woman’s 444-Mile Walk of the Natchez Trace  is a memoir about her dysfunctional family adventure; it is a National Book Award nominee and a New York Times best seller.  Natchez Trace: Tracks in Time  is a book of photography, shot during her 15-mile daily hikes on her 444-mile Natchez Trace walk.     I have known Andra for at least nine years now. I met her  through my husband James Moffitt and her blog. I

Favorite Scripture

My all time favorite verse in the bible is:  Proverbs 3:5-6 "Trust in the Lord with all you heart. Lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him and he will make your path straight." There are four key points to this verse. Let me break it down. 1) Trust in the Lord with your whole heart. This doesn't mean you sometimes trust God. You need to give everything which includes...are you ready for this...your finances! More on this later. 2) Lean not on your own understanding.     There are some things that happen in our life that we don't understand why they happen. For example, a death of a child. I will not know why God took Jessica from us back in 2001 until we get to heaven and can ask him. 3) In all your ways acknowledge him. Wow...that is a big one.  So no matter what we are doing we need to make it known that we believe, follow and love him.  This reminds me of the time PETER denied Jesus 3 times. Jesus even told him he was g

Cure for Messiness

I decided to start writing in a bigger font so I can actually read what I am writing. :) If you know of a cure for messiness please share. One of the sayings I have heard from James since we have been married: "Everything has a place. Everything in its space" Or something to that effect. Granted, it would be wonderful if things would stay in one place. Then it would actually be there when you needed it. However, since there are two people in the house, things tend to be put in different places. So for the past 28 years I have strived to keep the place we live clean. I struggle. I will admit it. When we had our kids, they were a good excuse for why things were messy. They always had their toys out. Now that they are grown and gone, I can now have my breakable stuff out without fear of it getting destroyed. OK, well, I wish. There are always the cats that tend to break things. That is another story. The different organizing systems out there: SHE's also known as

We will be moving to the Upstate of South Carolina by March. Right now we are in the Charleston area. James, my husband of 28 years was laid off of his job that he had for 10 years. He was the IT Manager. They just dissolved his position and wasn't needed anymore. He got a nice severance package for 3 months. He just got a job in Asheville, NC as the Help Desk Manager of a company there. It is a temp to permanent position. So far he likes them and visa versa. It looks like it's going to be a good fit.  We decided this past weekend that we wanted to go on and move closer to his work. He has been at this job now for a month and every weekend he makes the track to come home for a visit. He told me the other day: "It's getting old!" lol So I was leaving the complex and saw that someone had a storage container out for the trash guys. I stopped to see if the container was salvageable. I have been on a quest for boxes and containers so I can start packing.  So I sto
