I posted this blog back in 2015 and would like to share it again. In 2016  I lost 70 pounds because of 5 surgeries in 6 months. I had to get a new wardrobe! I went from a size 24 to a size 18-20. Since that time though I have gained back about 25 pounds of the 70 I lost. I don't want to get as big as i was. So with that in mind i am reposting the blog post from 2015. December 21, 2015     The word DIET has a bad taste in most people's mouths. I found a good article on Pintrest that I want to share having to do with dieting.   I decided to share this because like everyone else I am struggling with my weight. This past 6 months I have managed to put on at least 20 pounds. This is mainly due to me not being able to walk very far or stand very long. I used to be able to walk a relatively long distance. We used to go to the Flea Market and walk around. I can hardly do that now. Anyway, James and I both have managed to gain more weight than we care to admit. So we are trying to

  I am excited about writing about Shirley Eads! She is married to my Dad for the past 2 years. Marla Cilley aka Flylady      In July of 2000 we went to see one of my internet friends, Daphne in Indiana. We went in between Jessica's radiation treatments and her getting Chemotherapy. Daphne introduced me to Marla Cilley aka Flylady. She had just started a yahoo email group. Thanks to Daphne, she bought me an organizer that helped me keep Jessica's doctor appointments straight.  When  Flylady first started the email group she only had maybe 150 people in the group. She wanted to close the group but we talked her into keeping the group open so others could join. The Flylady email group has over 800,000 members if not more.   There is also a "Fly shop" and there is a wonderful website about the Flylady system.       When I first met Alice Wisler, we were at a Renaissance Mom's Retreat. She had lost her son Daniel in 1991. He was 4 years old. We had lost Jessica in August of 2001 when she was 10. The retreat was sponsored by Happy Days and Special Times and the director and founder Debbie "Flash" Stephenson. Alice had just gotten "Silce of Sunlight: A Cookbook of Memories" self- published. She was working on her second book called "Down the Cereal Aisle: A Basket of Recipes and Remembrances". She asked if i wanted to contribute to the book. At that time, my sorrow for Jessica was too fresh. It hurt to even think about what she used to eat much less write about it.          This is Alice's bio: "Alice was born in Osaka, Japan in the sixties.     We go to Coastal Community Church in Charleston, SC  (www.coastalcommunittychurch.org)  and our Pastor is Chris Rollins. Something that Pastor Chris says is, "Leaders are Readers" Each summer he does two series that we really enjoy. One has to do with current movies. He uses a title of a movie as a hook to his sermon. The other series has to do with Summer Reading. He takes a title of a book and uses that book as a hook to what he is going to talk  about that Sunday. .     This made me think about all the people I know that are authors. So with the theme of "Leaders are Readers", I am going to introduce some of the authors that I know and their books. Also any other insights along the way when it comes to writing. This is a story from James Moffitt that he wrote back in July to our friends about our stay at their house to watch their dogs. July 3, 2015 We arrived at our bed and breakfast around 10 am this morning.  The weather was partly cloudy and about 46% humidity.  The temperature was hovering around 79 F and the neighborhood was still quiet and sleepy. I did not see many people stirring about.   I had dejavu as I walked into the house we were staying at.  I felt as if I had been there several times before. Maybe it was in another life time, because the inhabitants that are usually there were gone.  We were greeted by two four legged friends who were excited to see us when we opened the back door.  Wait, were we supposed to be kept company by the pets of the inhabitants from years gone by?  Doctor DooLittle, my sweet wife, was ecstatic with joy

This is a repost from 2011 There are some people that consider Facebook evil. Can you even imagine? There are some people that will not get on Facebook at all for fear that people might get their information and use it in the wrong way. I know that this can be true. However, I have found that Facebook can be fun! I have found more people that I have grown up with as well as distant cousins because of Facebook. We have a connection that we would not have without Facebook or the internet. Some of my acquaintances that I knew from school have now become my friends. When we were in school there were certain groups, the surfers, the kickers, the band geeks and the guys into sports to name a few.  I don’t think too many people adventured into a different group too often. We stayed within our groups during high school. Now we are much older and wiser (cough) we do not have the stigma of having to stay in our different groups and we can adventure out and get to know people in a different way

Before you agree to working for someone online or having a financial arrangement with someone: Read the fine print! I found this out the hard way. I have been working through Freelancer to work on projects for people. There is actually reports of this company being a scam. I think they get away with stuff because the not knowing newbie freelancer (me) messed up and didn't read the fine print until they took out money I wasn't expecting!    Freelancer charges a fee to the person that has the project and the person that works on the project. I don't mind having to pay a little fee but 206.00 and 236.00 is rather extreme! What is worse is that they take the money out before I even get paid!   I am still trying to resolve this but I have definitely learned my lesson. What a mess this was! I had to get our bank to block all transactions with Freelancer. They kept trying to get money from me when I had already cancelled the work job. I even deleted my Freelancer account and t

October 6, 2015 Wow, it has been forever since I have written on my blog! I had to search my name on Google to find the URL!  I was just reading my old posts from when I was working at Walmart. Sheesh...I don't miss that job at all! So much has happened since 2004 when I wrote about that.    I hope to get better at blogging. So much has changed. I have my Masters in Special Education and have my certificate to teach. However, I have not been able to get and keep a full time teaching job. It is so frustrating. We are empty nesters and have been for  almost a year and a half. Kristina lives in Louisiana near New Orleans with her fiance' Cade. Justin is living in downtown Charleston with his girlfriend Kylie. He has been out of the house for 3 years now. He is going to Trident Technical College. James and I are on Kiawah Island staying at a one bedroom bungalo. We have been here almost a month now. Willow our 2 year old lab mix is with us.    This past weekend we had the rain
