Well i finally figured out how to get back to the part where you can write in the blog. I sometimes forget about bloggin as you can tell since i have not blogged "in a coons age". I finished my long term substitute assignment on January 24th and have just been substituting anywhere they needed me since that time. I even subbed last week for the middle school where I was a long term sub for the first four weeks. The class has grown since i left and she has a steady 14 kids in each class. She mainly teaches Science to 6th and 8th graders and then also teaches Language Arts and Math to her kids that are considered self contained. I taught one day last week in a Math class from He**. It was horrible! I told James that it was probably my 2nd worst day of subbing i have ever had in my 2 yrs of subbing. Are you wondering what my worst day was? Well, last year I went into a 8th grade class room and was barely there for 15 minutes trying to get their attention. I got so frustrated I w...
We go to Coastal Community Church in Charleston, SC (www.coastalcommunittychurch.org) and our Pastor is Chris Rollins. Something that Pastor Chris says is, "Leaders are Readers" Each summer he does two series that we really enjoy. One has to do with current movies. He uses a title of a movie as a hook to his sermon. The other series has to do with Summer Reading. He takes a title of a book and uses that book as a hook to what he is going to talk about that Sunday. . This made me think about all the people I know that are authors. So with the theme of "Leaders are Readers", I am going to introduce some of the authors that I know and their books. Also any other insights along the way when it comes to writing. So stay tuned.....
I know it's been a while since I have written in here. Just been busy surviving the pandemic. I think it's nearing the end. James and I both got our vaccinations and are doing fine. I will write more of an update later. Right now I would like to focus on the book that I just read. As some of you might know, I am an avid reader. Each year, I have a Reading Challenge that I do on Good Reads. This year I am reading 75 books. In the years past, I haven''t read that much because I was in school. However, since I have been out of school since 2012, I have averaged at least 50 books a year. My Mom was a very strong reader and would read probably 3 to 4 novels a week easy. In the last few years of her life she actually owned a Used Book Store which she enjoyed having to go everyday. Here is a link to Frieda McFadden's author page: Home (freidamcfadden.com) Fast forward to 2 days ago, I got an email from Frieda McFadden about her newest novel called: "The Locked D...
