Ghosts for Sale

                                                              Ghosts for Sale

Scott, the real estate agent turned the key but the door would not budge. He tried again and pushed the door with his shoulder and it came open right away. Scott tripped over his shoes as the door opened. He looked down and noticed his shoes were untied. He bent down and tied his shoes and shook his head. He whispered “Stacy, I know that was you! Stop it!” He ran and caught up with Chloe in the house.

Chloe was looking for a bigger home for her family since they had just moved to a new city for her job. She looked around the house. There was an eerie feeling about the place. She was getting chills yet the air conditioner was off. Scott showed the house to Chloe.

“This is a very roomy house for a family; three bedrooms, two baths and a basement. It has a big backyard and a wonderful wrap-around porch. It is an old Victorian house but has been refinished with modern appliances.

“Here we go again. Stay still and move nothing,” Wilber whispered to Stacy."

“How much is the house?”

“It will be  under $345,000.”   However, we can enter a lower bid to see if the sellers will accept it.
“That’s not bad. Not bad at all,” Chloe said. “Well, I need to see what my husband, Dave thinks about it."

Just as the two headed out of the house, they noticed the blinds were closed. Chloe gave Scott a puzzled look. “Were the blinds not open when we came in?Scott shrugged as he looked at her.
Stacy giggled watching Chloe and the realtor.

“Stacy, I told you not to do anything.” Wilber frowned.
“Now they will wonder how the blinds closed. The house was bought and sold three times in the past four years.”

That night Chloe talked to her husband about the house. “I love the house and think we would enjoy the porch and the basement.”

“Honey, if you want the house, get it! I am not particular about where we live. I am tired of staying in the hotel for the past two weeks.  Please find us a house so we can get settled.”

Chloe was so excited at the prospect of getting the house. She called Scott the next morning. “Scott, I want to make am offer of 335,000 to see if they will take it."

Scott called her a couple of days later and said, “You got the house! The owners accepted your offer.”

Chloe was so excited about getting the house, she called Dave to let him know.
Moving day arrived. The movers followed Chloe and her family in the truck.
Chloe and Dave soon got settled in the house.

One night, they went down to explore the basement, while the kids were asleep. Chloe tried to flip on the light but it didn’t work. So she used the light from her phone to look around. Chloe looked around and all she saw was a lot of dry blood. “Dave, what went on here?” They heard a voice that said, “GET OUT!” So she and Dave took the steps two at a time to get out of the basement. “Wow, Chloe that was crazy! What are we going to do?”
Chloe looked at him and said, “Well we are leaving the basement alone for now, that is for sure.” She locked the door.

Stacy looked at Wilber and giggled. “That was funny, Wilber. Did you see their faces?”
Yes I did Stacy, I think that lady, Chloe is going to be trouble for us”.

The next day, Chloe started reading her bible and praying every chance she got.. She was determined to get rid of those spirits or whatever was going on in her house. She wasn’t going to be driven away.

“Mom,, I want to see the basement! We could use it for a game room!” Joni wiggled the basement door but it was locked.
Chloe saw what she was doing and said, “Honey, please do not go down into the basement under any circumstances. The light is out and you could get hurt.”
Chloe didn’t want to tell her the truth about the blood stains. Joni frowned while looking up at her mother, but said “Ok.”
Chloe looked at her son JM and told him the same thing. “Leave the basement alone for now until I tell you otherwise.”
JM looked up at his Mom from playing on his phone and said, “Yes Mama.”

The next week, Chloe went down to the basement when everyone was out of the house. She put a new light bulb in the fixture. She brought cleaning supplies down the stairs. Then she said:
“In the name of Jesus, you get out of my house.” This is not your place and Jesus died for my sins. He is the Lord over me and my family.”

Stacy was calling to Wilber, ” Will-bbber, I see a light, let’s go toward the light.” I finally can feel peace and can leave the house.”

Chloe bent down and started to clean the floor in the basement with a satisfied smile on her face.
Wilber just shook his head side to side and said to himself, ‘This isn’t over.”
