Sermon Notes: I'm Grateful for my Church

"And he is the head of the body, the church; he is the beginning, and the firstborn from among the dead, so that in everything he might have the supremacy." Colossians 1:18

"I will build my church, and all the powers of hell, will not conquer it." Matthew 16:18

 I'm grateful for my church because
   1. My church helps me  focus on God.

   "Jesus replied , "You must love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, and all your mind. This is the first and greatest commandment."  Matthew 22:37-38

  "And let us not neglect our meeting together, as some people do, but encourage and warn each other, especially now that the day of his coming back again is drawing near." Hebrews 10:25

 Make church on Sunday a priority.

2. My church helps me strengthen my faith. 

"Share each other's troubles and problems, and in this way obey the law of Christ." Galatians 6:2

"And since we are all one body in Christ , we belong to each other, and each of us needs all the others." Romans 12:5 

Join a life group! 

3. My church helps me find a ministry. 

"For we are God's masterpiece. he has created us anew in Christ Jesus so that we can do the good things he planned for us long ago." Ephesians  2:10

"If you try to keep your life for yourself, you will lose it. But if you give up your life for me, you will find true life." Matthew 16:25 

Join a ministry! 

4. My church helps me fulfill my life's mission.

"But my life is worth nothing unless I use it for doing the work assigned me by the Lord Jesus-the work of telling others the Good News about God's wonderful kindness and love" Acts 20:24

Invite someone to church. 


We each have gifts as part of the body of Christ. It is up to us to use our gifts to help others know about Jesus.

What to do at 3 in the morning?

Well here I sit at the computer and its nearly 3:30 in the morning now. I started getting sick yesterday at school. I was sneezing like crazy most of the day. When I got home I started taking meds. I took everything from Claritin (thinking it might be my allergies) to Theraflu and so far no real relief. Then about 11:45pm I took something that had an antihestomine (not sure what it was since it was out of the box) I figure good something that would dry me up. Well it actually did dry me up however I have been a wake most of the night. UGHHH!! I was suppose to work today but when i woke up at 11:45 pm and good not hardly talk or do much else i called in to the lady that assigns the subs and told her i could not work. Yesterday, Justin was sick with a low fever and coughing. I am hoping to be able to send him to school today. He has missed 8 days of school so far this year and can not miss anymore than 10 before they decide to retain him. I would rather he not have to stay in 3rd grade a

My Scar

                                                                 My Scar     “OUCH”, I said to David. He and I were goofing off during band practice one day. He twisted my right wrist.   I didn’t think much of it at the time. It hurt a little but I soon forgot all about it. Then   about a week later I started having pains in my right wrist.   I was having a hard time being able to bend it. I noticed a large bump formed under the skin on the top of my wrist. I didn’t tell my parents. I figured they wouldn’t believe me and would think it was just growing pains.   It wasn’t until I was in my first semester of college that I noticed that the bump on my wrist was getting bigger. Since Mom used to work with a hand surgeon, she still had connections. So I went to see the Dr. and we set a date for the surgery. It would be on January 13, 1978.
